Below is a link to an article by Fareed Zakaria in the June 7 edition of Newsweek. It takes a similar line of logic to our "Get Rid of the Bad Blood" post, but tackles a different topic. It addresses President Obama's foreign policy and his critics. Check it out and post a comment here on Majority Mind.

I can see the similarity between the two articles.
We all know Obama doesn't want to step on anyone's toes in the US, let alone other Countries. Being nice is not going to get the job done, and people will lose respect for a person if they sense they can take advantage of them.
Deal is, if Obama shows "grace" towards Iran, then other countries are going to begin to do the same (such as the picture imposes), and as to where the critics make their statements.
Obama is afraid to make bold moves. He's seen the hits that the Bush administration has taken, and he is trying to people please and keep the opinions polls clean, so he can be re-elected for the next term. Maybe in the 2nd term he will be more daring.
But you can't please the people- you have to get the job done and done right; without worrying what others think. That's the job of a leader- making tough decisions.
Since when does diplomacy equate with weakness. It takes a man of great strength to choose not to engage in petty or or fruitless dick-measuring. The US will have to come to terms with the fact that we are not the biggest kid on the playground anymore. And unless we are prepared to wear the shame of the global bully, we must learn a new way of communicating with our neighbors and fellow global citizens. True strength is discovered in what we can build, not destroy.
